- 3rd among UC campuses and 35th among universities nationwide for “best education,” as rated by high school counselors (U.S. News & World Report 2010).
- 16th among “America’s 100 Greenest Schools” (Sierra magazine 2010).
- 10th in research and development expenditures among U.S. public universities and 16th among all universities nationwide (National Science Foundation, 2007–08).
As UC Davis begins its second century, it is poised to build upon its extraordinary foundation of academic excellence and global impact and advance among the world’s top universities. Through The Campaign for UC Davis — a universitywide initiative to inspire 100,000 donors to contribute $1 billion in philanthropic support — UC Davis is expanding its capacity to meet the world’s challenges and educate future leaders. By advancing excellence, innovation, public service, opportunity and quality of life, The Campaign for UC Davis is allowing the university to rise to even greater heights of distinction, scholarship and service. The campaign is the university’s first comprehensive fundraising effort, and it creates an unprecedented opportunity to extend the university’s positive impacts, both locally and globally. We invite you to join us.
Campaign timeline
The campaign’s quiet phase began on July 1, 2006, following the approval by the UC Office of the President and endorsement from the UC Davis Foundation Board of Trustees. During the campaign’s quiet phase, more than $605 million was committed toward the campaign’s $1 billion goal. On September 16, 2010, the UC Board of Regents voted to authorize the public phase of the campaign. UC Davis formally launched the public phase on October 22, 2010, with a campus and communitywide celebration at the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts.
