UC Davis’ Kevin Bacon ’72 plans to use his many connections to engage 100,000 donors.
While many people know how well connected Kevin Bacon — the actor — is with other Hollywood stars, they may not be aware of how connected our Kevin Bacon — the UC Davis alum — is to his alma mater.
Bacon is the chair of the UC Davis Foundation Board of Trustees and a member of the Campaign Cabinet, the College of Letters and Science’s Dean’s Advisory Committee, the UC Davis Chancellor’s Club and the Herbert A. Young Society. He also is a business partner of the Graduate School of Management (GSM) and has made generous contributions to the GSM building fund and the College of Letters and Science for graduate student fellowships.
Bacon is so proud of his associations with the university that he is working to help engage 100,000 unique donors through The Campaign for UC Davis to raise $1 billion by 2014.
“We’re looking to connect donors of all sizes to this campus because we believe they’re going to find places where UC Davis is working on things that really touch on their passions, their interests, their concerns,” said Bacon, a retired management consultant who is a visiting professor at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin, “If we can get those 100,000 people connected to this campus, then we’ll have a broader community of support to help carry us into the future.”
