Bob ’63 and Kinzie ’64 Murphy believe an excellent education betters lives.
Giving back is a passion of the Murphys, which is why they are excited to see an interest in giving grow at their alma mater with the launch of The Campaign for UC Davis.
As their careers and family grew, Bob and Kinzie increasingly realized the opportunities made possible by their education and became passionate about supporting UC Davis — both through their gifts to the UC Davis Annual Fund and in the hours they spend volunteering their time on behalf of UC Davis.
“We want to make sure others have the opportunities we had, not only with an excellent education, but other experiences such as exposure to other cultures and new ideas,” Kinzie said. “Going to college at UC Davis gave us a broader perspective and translated into a better life.”
Gifts provided by Annual Fund and UC Davis Chancellor’s Club (DCC) donors are particularly meaningful to the Murphys because they empower the university to achieve its vision by providing a funding source to respond to immediate needs and new opportunities.
“Giving to the Annual Fund and DCC creates opportunities for students that won’t be funded by any other source,” said Bob, chair of the DCC.
“Every little bit counts,” Kinzie added. “Once you build a pattern of giving, it continues for a lifetime.”
